The Heights - 7:169
"They were replaced by other generations who inherited the Book. But they said, "We shall be forgiven anyway,"and chose vile and transitory benefits. If similar temporary benefits came to them, they would still choose them. Was not a promise taken from them that they would adhere to the Book and speak only the truth about Allah? Have they not read and learned it? Better for the righteous is the abode of the Hereafter. Do you not understand?"
Temporary benefits:
The Family Of Imran/3:14
Pleasures such as women, children, heaps of gold and silver, trained horses, cattle and crops seem attractive to people. These are the blessings of the life of this world. But the best destination is with Allah.
زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَٓاءِ وَالْبَن۪ينَ وَالْقَنَاط۪يرِ الْمُقَنْطَرَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَالْخَيْلِ الْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَالْاَنْعَامِ وَالْحَرْثِۜ ذٰلِكَ مَتَاعُ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۚ وَاللّٰهُ عِنْدَهُ حُسْنُ الْمَاٰبِ
The Family Of Imran/3:185
Everyone will taste death. On the Day of Resurrection your rewards will be given to you in full. And whoever is rescued from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he is victorious. The life of this world is but a deceitful pleasure.
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَٓائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِۜ وَاِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوْنَ اُجُورَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِۜ فَمَنْ زُحْزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَاُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَۜ وَمَا الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَٓا اِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ
The Women/4:94
"Believers, be careful when you go out to fight in the way of Allah. Do not say to anyone who offers you peace, "You do not believe,"for the temporary benefit of this world´s life. For with Allah is much booty. You were like them before, but Allah has favored you. So search well and be sure. Allah is All-Knowing of what you do."
يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ اَلْقٰٓى اِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِناًۚ تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۘ فَعِنْدَ اللّٰهِ مَغَانِمُ كَث۪يرَةٌۜ كَذٰلِكَ كُنْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنُواۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَب۪يراً
The Spoils of War/8:67
It is not befitting any prophet to take captives in the earth without fighting. You seek the temporal goods of this world, but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. Allah is Superior, Wise.
مَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ اَنْ يَكُونَ لَـهُٓ اَسْرٰى حَتّٰى يُثْخِنَ فِي الْاَرْضِۜ تُر۪يدُونَ عَرَضَ الدُّنْيَاۗ وَاللّٰهُ يُر۪يدُ الْاٰخِرَةَۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَز۪يزٌ حَك۪يمٌ
Prophet Jonah/10:23
And when He rescues them, they begin to transgress in the earth unjustly. O people, your excesses are against yourselves. You are fond of the transient pleasures of this world´s life, but to Us is your return, and We will inform you of all that you do.
فَلَمَّٓا اَنْجٰيهُمْ اِذَا هُمْ يَبْغُونَ فِي الْاَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّۜ يَٓا اَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِكُمْۙ مَتَاعَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ اِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Prophet Jonah/10:24
The life of this world is like this example: the water We send down from the sky mixes with the plants that people and animals eat. This lasts until the earth is adorned and its inhabitants think that they have dominion over nature. Then Our command comes to it by night or by day. We make it uproot itself as if it had not possessed anything the day before. Thus do We explain the verses for a people who reflect.
اِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَٓاءٍ اَنْزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِه۪ نَبَاتُ الْاَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ النَّاسُ وَالْاَنْعَامُۜ حَتّٰٓى اِذَٓا اَخَذَتِ الْاَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَازَّيَّـنَتْ وَظَنَّ اَهْلُهَٓا اَنَّهُمْ قَادِرُونَ عَلَيْهَٓاۙ اَتٰيهَٓا اَمْرُنَا لَيْلاً اَوْ نَهَاراً فَجَعَلْنَاهَا حَص۪يداً كَاَنْ لَمْ تَغْنَ بِالْاَمْسِۜ كَذٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْاٰيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
The Night Journey/17:18
Whoever desires this transitory world, We give therein as much as We will to whom We will. Then We will condemn him to Hell, condemned and dismissed.
مَنْ كَانَ يُر۪يدُ الْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُ ف۪يهَا مَا نَشَٓاءُ لِمَنْ نُر۪يدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَۚ يَصْلٰيهَا مَذْمُوماً مَدْحُوراً
The Cave/18:45
Give them as an example of the life of this world the plant of the earth, which is nourished by the water We send down from the sky and then turns to rubbish blown away by the wind. Allah is all-powerful.
وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَثَلَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَٓاءٍ اَنْزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِه۪ نَبَاتُ الْاَرْضِ فَاَصْبَحَ هَش۪يماً تَذْرُوهُ الرِّيَاحُۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُقْتَدِراً
The Light/24:33
And those who do not have the means to marry, let them be chaste until Allah enriches them with His bounty. And those captives who wish to obtain a certificate of freedom through marriage - if their intentions are honest - let them go free. And give them out of what Allah has given you. Do not force your daughters who wish to be chaste into prostitution for the temporary benefits of this world. Whoever compels them, then Allah takes into account their compulsion; He is Forgiving, Merciful.
وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحاً حَتّٰى يُغْنِيَهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ۜ وَالَّذ۪ينَ يَبْتَغُونَ الْكِتَابَ مِمَّا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ فَكَاتِبُوهُمْ اِنْ عَلِمْتُمْ ف۪يهِمْ خَيْراًۗ وَاٰتُوهُمْ مِنْ مَالِ اللّٰهِ الَّـذ۪ٓي اٰتٰيكُمْۜ وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا فَتَيَاتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَٓاءِ اِنْ اَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّناً لِتَبْتَغُوا عَرَضَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۜ وَمَنْ يُكْرِهْهُنَّ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ مِنْ بَعْدِ اِكْرَاهِهِنَّ غَفُورٌ رَح۪يمٌ
The Stories/28:60
All that is given to you is the wealth and ornaments of this world´s life. Better and lasting is that which is with Allah. Do you not understand?
وَمَٓا اُو۫ت۪يتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا وَز۪ينَتُهَاۚ وَمَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ خَيْرٌ وَاَبْقٰىۜ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ۟
The Spider/29:64
The life of this world is nothing but amusement and play. And the abode of the Hereafter is the true life, if only they knew.
وَمَا هٰذِهِ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَٓا اِلَّا لَهْوٌ وَلَعِبٌۜ وَاِنَّ الدَّارَ الْاٰخِرَةَ لَهِيَ الْحَيَوَانُۢ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
The Forgiver/40:39
O my people, the life of this world is a temporary livelihood. The abode of the Hereafter is an everlasting abode.
يَا قَوْمِ اِنَّمَا هٰذِهِ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَا مَتَاعٌۘ وَاِنَّ الْاٰخِرَةَ هِيَ دَارُ الْقَرَارِ
The Ornaments of Gold/43:35
And many ostentatious materials. All this is the temporary material of this worldly life. But the Hereafter is for the righteous in the Presence of your Lord.
وَزُخْرُفاًۜ وَاِنْ كُلُّ ذٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَاعُ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۜ وَالْاٰخِرَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّق۪ينَ۟
Muhammad/47:36
The life of this world is but play and amusement. If you believe and act righteously, He will give you your rewards. He does not ask you for your money.
اِنَّمَا الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌۜ وَاِنْ تُؤْمِنُوا وَتَتَّقُوا يُؤْتِكُمْ اُجُورَكُمْ وَلَا يَسْـَٔلْكُمْ اَمْوَالَكُمْ
The Iron/57:20
Know that the life of this world is but play, amusement, adornment, boasting among yourselves, and a race to multiply money and children. It is like the rain that makes a plant grow which the disbelievers like. But then the plant withers and turns yellow and becomes rubbish. In the Hereafter there is a severe punishment from Allah and forgiveness and contentment. The life of this world is but a temporary pleasure that deceives.
اِعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّمَا الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَز۪ينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِي الْاَمْوَالِ وَالْاَوْلَادِۜ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ اَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ ثُمَّ يَه۪يجُ فَتَرٰيهُ مُصْفَراًّ ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَاماًۜ وَفِي الْاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَد۪يدٌۙ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِنَ اللّٰهِ وَرِضْوَانٌۜ وَمَا الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَٓا اِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ
The Man/76:27
They love this transient and do not care for a heavy day ahead of them.
اِنَّ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ يُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَٓاءَهُمْ يَوْماً ثَق۪يلاً
